Program Acceptance

Our admissions team carefully selects participants based on discussion with family members and evaluation of presenting concerns, thorough review of our student application, consultation with referring and other professionals, and psycho-educational testing when available.

Speedy Process

Applications are reviewed year-round, seven days a week. Acceptance is communicated to prospective families within 24 hours or less of a completed admissions review. Students are encouraged to participate in the admissions process and must participate in a video conference interview with a member of the clinical team prior to acceptance.

True North strives to maintain a fair and competitive tuition. Please contact our admissions team to learn more.

Insurance

True North encourages families to seek insurance reimbursement for all or part of our program. True North does not bill any insurance companies directly, and reimbursement varies according to individual companies and plans. True North will provide documentation to support families in seeking reimbursement directly.

Scholarships and Financial Aid

True North is proud to partner with Sky’s the Limit Fund, a non-profit organization providing grants to qualified families seeking wilderness therapy. Students accepted to True North may apply for a grant through Sky’s the Limit Fund. If approved, the grant goes toward the tuition, and True North also provides a reduction in tuition.

Healthcare Loans

There are a variety of lending agencies that give loans for mental healthcare and behavioral healthcare such as wilderness therapy. They can provide quick pre-approval, one point of contact, reasonable interest rates, and affordable monthly payments.

Enrollment Process

Enrollment Schedule

Students are invited to enroll on weekdays between 9:00 am and 3:30 pm year-round. Students enter an existing group of students and stay for an average of 10-12 weeks.

Enrollment Procedure

In keeping with our commitment to transparency and family participation, parents or guardians are generally present for the enrollment. Parents and students meet with a therapist and other program staff in our comfortable Waitsfield office. Young adult clients may choose to travel independently and will be met at the airport by True North staff and transported directly to our office for enrollment.

Transportation

East Coast and New England area families may travel by car to True North and our offices are an easy 50-minute drive from Burlington International Airport (BTV). Private airstrips in nearby Berlin and Burlington, Vermont provide additional convenience.

We recommend that our families work with an educational consultant. Educational Consultants have a vast knowledge and in-depth experience with resources all over the country. Their support is invaluable in helping to facilitate the right placement for our students or assist with their transition home.
