True North has been helping families for nearly 15 years and there are just under 1,000 alumni families that have participated in the program to date! True North remains invested in providing opportunities for students to maintain connection with their True North experience and our regional Alumni Gatherings continue to be a great touch point for our alumni, their families and the True North team. June 22, 2019 was a beautiful day in Harriman State Park, hosted by the Americorps volunteers at the Welch Trail Education Center. Families and True North team members gathered for service projects including invasive species removal, trail maintenance, and Leave No Trace education. Lunch by the lake was provided by Rockland Roots and water activities by Early Riser Kayak Adventures. It was such a pleasure to take the time out to be together and re-connect.
A big thank you to Geoff Hamilton and the crew for sharing the day with us and thank you to all our staff who traveled to New York and to the families who made the trip to join us. You are an awesome reminder of how important our work in the wilderness is. It is an honor to be part of your stories and we are already looking forward to the next gathering. Please contact Alison McHugh at alison@truenorthwilderness.com if you would like to know more about opportunities for alumni connection at True North or sign up for alumni communications here. We hope to see you in a city near you very soon!
