The summer is upon us in the world of Wilderness Therapy, and True North is thrilled to welcome the following individuals to our team:
Ally Barnett, MSW, joins the clinical team as a course leader (student therapist) starting in late May. She has been working as a therapist in nearby Burlington and became acquainted with True North through a former course leader there. In preparation for running her own group this summer, Ally has spent several weeks in the field, working as a guide and learning the ins and outs of daily life at True North. She has shadowed nearly all of the other course leaders and provided support for their spring caseloads. Ally brings with her a clinical focus on helping young people develop resilience and inner resources through a variety of therapeutic interventions and by drawing on their daily experiences with the wilderness.
The admissions team is excited to welcome Danielle Lanslots, MS, back for the summer. Danielle worked as a True North guide for several years and has a keen understanding of both daily life and the bigger picture of the experience for students and families. She joined the admissions team in 2015 and while she took some time off for graduate school, has been an invaluable resource for families and referring professionals as we manage the heavier volume of admissions inquiries in the summer. Danielle is compassionate and warm, and her assessment and organization skills coupled with in-depth understanding of the program provide families with a great start to their True North experience.
