On September 26-27th True North attended the 2017 NATSAP Northeast Regional Conference. This conference has been thriving at the Colony Hotel in Kennebunkport, ME for the past several years. After all, who doesn’t enjoy continuing education with a side of lobster? The conference has been so well attended that it has outgrown the venue, and will move to a bigger location in Cape Cod, MA in 2018. True North was proud to be one of the presenters and share our knowledge and strengthen the community of therapeutic schools and programs here in the Northeast.
Community was a particularly salient theme of the conference for me personally, as I grew up in the next town over and attended the local high school. Costal Maine is a place I associate with family, and that was exactly what our wonderful therapists Edward “Bogie” Foden and Neil Binette presented on: research finding from a study they conducted on True North’s family therapy curriculum. They will be publishing this study through the Outdoor Behavioral Healthcare Council.
The conference also provided True North an opportunity to introduce our new Research and Alumni Coordinator Alison McHugh. She has been on our team for the past 4 years, but is switching to this new role to increase our presence in the continuing education community.
True North is grateful to everyone who attended our presentation, and to all the other presenters, who shared knowledge on a wide variety of topics including: blended learning, trauma, mindfulness, resiliency, and learning differences. We are so glad to have broken lobster claws with you one last time in Kennebunkport!
